Didn't Mother Tell You: 'The Cure At 30,000 Feet' Thanks, New York Times

Our thanks to The New York Times for bringing us this letter to the editor:

Now that David Leonhardt has so eloquently discussed “the scam of flying pets,” let’s also talk about what my husband and I have come to call “the cure at 30,000 feet.” I am referring to the increasing number of passengers who require a wheelchair to board the plane, thus securing a seat at the front of the plane, and who, by the end of the flight, are miraculously able to bolt from the plane to baggage ahead of the rest of us.
It’s a simple problem to solve. If you board in a wheelchair, you leave in one, and if, by chance, something truly remarkable happened between Boston and Denver, the American Medical Association would love to hear about it.

  1. This is the funniest! Thank you and the NY Times. Sadly, it is also so very true! I had a lady next to me on a flight who "could not walk" yet, upon landing she stood up, shoved me aside and virtually ran off the plane!
