This spring's competitive sales promotions have brought an interesting challenge for luxury-seeking guests looking for a Caribbean cruise. Under today's pricing, buyers can pay $2,500 for seven nights on either the
Seabourn Odyssey or the
Silversea Silver Wind.

Seabourn Odyssey |
The Odyssey was built in 2009 and carries 450 guests and about 330 crew, the Silver Wind in 1995, refurbished in 2016, and accommodates 296 passengers and about 210 crew. You can see the similarity of the ships in the photographs here, and the companies' web sites will compare specifics, including dining options, recreation facilities, spas, and other features.

Silver Wind |
Both brands are all-inclusive, meaning that gratuities for cabin attendants and beverages including bottled water, soda, beer, wine and spirits are "free." Each cruise line also tries to up-sell passengers to more prestigious wines than the usually ample selection being poured throughout the cruise. As with any cruise line pricing, you can always ask your agent or check online for additional considerations or discounts.
Seabourn runs week-long round-trips from Barbados, Silversea from San Juan, Puerto Rico. So one consideration is the differing itineraries, another the cost of flights to those ports. You can use
